creation vs. evolution 2

by hotcakes

Why do we as Americans take so much time to debate subjects that don’t really matter?
That is the exact question that is brought up in the article I have just read. Creation,Evolution and intelligent design is just one of the just one of the many arcticles on this matter in the Current Sciecne journal. It questions the idea that all the fuss on creation theories taught in our schools may not really be necessary.
I agree with the authors thoughts to a certain extent. It is true,in our country we do spend to much time worring about topics that really don’t make that much of a difference. It would be so much easier if we just didn’t cover the subject of creation theories at all. And yes, in a perfect world this would go over very well. There’s just one problem…it’s not.So I suppose the author did not realize the sad truth that we do not live in a perfect world and that people are not going to just look over things. There is going to be conflict and there is going to have to be compromise.
This article is most likely credible information because it is published in Current Science which is a collection of scientific articles and has been around since the early 30’s. Although this is a credible source the articles posted in this journal are the authors ideas on a subject and not the offical views. It is though, written to were there are more facts then thoughts and no fallacies.

Creation vs. Evolution

by hotcakes

The point the auther (John Angus Campbell) is trying to make in the article is that all theories  on creation should be taught, but only as credible information and not as absolute truth. He goes on to quote John Scopes in which he states “If you limit a teacher to only one side of anything, the whole country will eventually have only one thought.”He is trying to get the message through taht thre should be more than one theory tought so people can have there own ideas and opinions and not just what the state decides they should learn.

I agree with the idea the author has proposed to end conflict with the arguement on teaching evolution in schools by giving information on all but not teaching them as absolute truh,But I feel like the author either does not consider or failed to acknowlege that this will not be accepted that easily. Free dicussion in class about any topic on religion will never be completely excepted. Whether the author did this on purpose or simply forgot to state the obvious, I don’t know.

I do believe  that this article is  a reliable source of information because John Angus Campbell (the auther) works for USA today and any kind of fallicious material would destroy there reputation as a reliable source of the news. And considering that, I believe they do a background check on all information given in any article printed. Also, the auther was using logos rather than ethos or pathos, so it was more supporting facts than his own opionion. This way the information given by him is more accurate due to the fact it is of logic more than morals.
